Stephen DeMerchant
Stephen DeMerchant of Perth-Andover passed away peacefully at the Grand Falls General Hospital on April 22, 2016.

Stephen was born in Lerwick, NB on February 17, 1927. He was the son of the late Perry and Priscilla (Downing) DeMerchant. Stephen leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years Shirley DeMerchant (Hammond); his sons William DeMerchant (Sandra) of Fredericton, Robert DeMerchant of Perth-Andover; five grandchildren and one great grandson; his brother Stewart DeMerchant (Roberta) of Perth-Andover; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Marguerite Johnston; his brothers George, Bernard, Jack, and Leo DeMerchant.

Stephen was a well known potato farmer in the area. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church for numerous years. He was a loving husband and father, and a great friend to all who knew him.

Funeral service was held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2 pm from the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church. Rev. Reg Thomas officiated. Interment followed in Larlee Creek Cemetery.

Music for the service was by William DeMerchant and Jerry McFarland. The eulogy was given by William DeMerchant and scripture was read by Sandra DeMerchant.

Pallbearers were Liam DeMerchant, Mark DeMerchant, Chester Baker, James Hammond, Eugene Lockhart, and Michael Jackson.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
