Gertrude Higgins

Gertrude Higgins of Riley Brook, NB passed away on June 20, 2016 at the Victoria Glen Manor. She born on February 10, 1924 in Presque Isle, ME. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Bullerwell) Ferguson.

Gertrude leaves behind he loving children, Shirley MacKenzie (Fred) of Woodstock, NB, Dora Diamond (John) of Winnipeg, MB and Edward Higgins (Patricia) of Beechwood, NB. She also leaves behind her eight cherished grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Albert Higgins; granddaughter, Kerrie Diamond; brother, Ernest Ferguson; and sister, Mary Goodine.

Gertrude enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the camp, hunting, fishing, quilting, playing cards and music. Her cooking was envied by many family and friends.

Funeral service was held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 3 pm from the Tobique Chapel. Mr. Russell Parish officiated. Interment followed in the Riley Brook Cemetery.

Music for the service was by Sarah Francoeur.

Pallbearers were Dart Williams, Roger Fournier, Hal DeWitt, Steve Seely, Malcolm MacKenzie, Junior Higgins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
