Joan Shirley

Following a lengthy illness, Joan Shirley of Plaster Rock passed away peacefully at the Tobique Valley Manor on October 21, 2016.

Joan was born in Plaster Rock, NB on January 8, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Burns Edgar and the late Pearle (Ruff) Ashworth. Joan Leaves behind her daughter Karen Batt (fiancé Daryl Schmidt) of St. Albert, AB; her sons Kevin Shirley (Donna) of Sisson Ridge, Brian Shirley (Tina) of Grand Falls; her grandchildren Tyler Shirley, Jeremy Shirley, Michael Batt, Kalena Batt, Alex Shirley, and Jacob Shirley; her great grandchildren Paisley Shirley and Rylie Shirley; her sisters June Stevenson of Plaster Rock, Faye Edgar of Fredericton, Gay Bedford (Henry) of McLaughlin, NB; her brothers Gary Edgar (Gilda) of Terrace, BC, Thomas Ashworth (Cheryl) of Calgary, AB.

Joan was predeceased by her parents; her husband Raymond Shirley; her step-father Ralph Ashworth; brothers Murray, Blake, Floyd, and Blair Edgar; her sister Lora Edgar.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 27th, 2016 at 2 pm from the Tobique Chapel. Mr. Hilary Hargrove officiated. Interment followed in the Three Brooks Cemetery.

Music for the service was by Rick Christensen. The urn was carried by Joan's daughter, Karen Batt.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
