Wayne W. McLaughlin

1934-2017

Wayne W. McLaughlin
Wayne Wilbert McLaughlin of Carlingford passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2017.

Wayne was born in Grand Falls on February 5, 1934. He was the son of the late Thomas and Lillian McLaughlin (Livingstone). Married to Sheila McLaughlin of Grand Falls, Wayne leaves behind their children Barbara McLaughlin (David Bauld) of Stewiacke, NS, Dwayne McLaughlin of Wolfville, NS, Alan McLaughlin (Terri Pelkey) of Carlingford, NB; and his grandchildren Alexandria Bauld, Ethan McLaughlin, and Maggie McLaughlin. He also leaves behind his brother Claude (Elva) of Carlingford and sister Beatrice Schreiner of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife Sheila (McLaughlin), his parents; his brother Keith and sisters Nancy Burnett and Ruth Beattie.

Wayne farmed with his brother Claude and son Alan for over 55 years, growing and shipping potatoes under the Blue Diamond brand across eastern Canada and the United States. Farming was his passion, and with the occasional fishing trip and auction 45 game of cards thrown in, all was good in his life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, always placing the well being of family ahead of his own. He will be sadly missed.

Special thanks to those who helped him remain in his home of 60 years and other caregivers, especially Rachel Sooley.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2 pm from Brunswick Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Fredericks officiated. Interment will be at the Ortonville Baptist Church at a later date.

Music for the service was by the Good Old Boys and Girls (Kevin and Shawna McLaughlin, Darren McLaughlin, Jennifer Holmes, Larry Adams, and Paula Gura).

Pallbearers were Scott McLaughlin, Carl McLaughlin, Ethan McLaughlin, Chris McLaughlin, Aaron McLaughlin, and Harold Turner.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
