Kathleen "Kathy" Nicholas

With her family by her side, Kathleen Nicholas of Tobique First Nation, NB, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on the morning of April 29, 2018 following a brief illness.

Born in Mistissini, Québec on November 2nd, 1950, Kathy was the daughter of the late Brian and Charlotte (Gunner) Coonishish. She leaves behind her daughter, Leanne Nicholas (Brookes Perley) of Tobique First Nation; her sons, Christopher Coonishish (Leslie Ann) of Chisasibi, Québec, Brian Nicholas (Holly Paul) of Tobique First Nation, Robin Nicholas (Vanessa Bear) of Tobique First Nation, Quinton Nicholas of Tobique First Nation; her sisters, Helen Rabbitskin (Abel) of Ojebougamon, Québec, Jane Shecacapio-Blacksmith of Ojebougamon, Québec, Annie Bosum (William) of Mistissini, Québec; her brothers, Alfred Coonishish (Hattie) of Mistissini, Québec, and Kenny Coonishish (Sally) of Mistissini, Québec. Kathy also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kianne Nicholas-Perley, Malsom Nicholas-Perley, Christopher Coonishish Jr., Christine Coonishish, Chase Paul, Brydon Nicholas, Bryce Nicholas, Jetta Bear, Alaira Nicholas, Infinity Nicholas, and Lynx Nicholas; as well as several nieces and nephew.

Besides her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Nicholas; daughter, Veronica Mona Nicholas; son, Eric Nicholas; and brothers, Roderick, George, Johnny, and Rene Coonishish.

Resting at her home at 73 Main St. Tobique First Nation, with visitation starting on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 from 2pm until her funeral service on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at 2 pm from her home. The celebration will be officiated by Edward Perley and Gerald Nicholas.

For those who wish, memorial donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
