Garnet Alton Branscombe

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Garnet Alton Branscombe, age 89, of Edmundston, NB. Garnet passed away peacefully on September 5th 2018 at The Faubourg Du Mascaret, Pavillion Richard, Shannex, Moncton NB, surrounded by his family.

Born in 1928, of Minto NB, he was the son of the late Lee and Nina (Barton) Branscombe. Garnet moved to Edmundston at the age of one, where he lived most of his life. He was a devoted great-grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle, father-in-law and loving husband. He worked at Frasers Pulp and Paper for 40 years. He was predeceased by his siblings Arthur, Beatrice, Pearl and Ruby.

Garnet adored his wife of 68 years, Rolande (Rolly) Branscombe (Gagnon). He was a very active person, often seen walking hand in hand, with his beautiful wife Rolly. Garnet had many passions including hockey, basketball, golfing, swimming, gardening, but especially camping with his family, dancing with Rolly and skiing—though his greatest passion was always his family.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Rolande (Rolly) Branscombe, daughter Susan and husband Gerry Connolly, daughter Donna and husband Dean McNeill, son Gary Branscombe, son Gregg and wife Karen Branscombe, grandchildren Jennifer Connolly, Andrew, Jeff and Lauren McNeill and Emma Branscombe, great-grandchildren Benjamin and Maddie Connolly Gallant.

We would like to thank the thoughtful and caring staff at the Pavillion Richard for their love and compassion over the past year.

A Liturgy of the Word was held Monday Sept. 10, 2018 at 11 O'Clock from the Résidences funéraires Brunswick Ltée, 20 Church Street in Edmundston with interment in the Immaculate Conception parish cemetery in Edmundston. Father Jacques Lapointe officiating.
