Garry Porter

1945-2018

Garry  Porter
Garry Joseph Porter of Plaster Rock, NB, passed away at home on December 17, 2018 after a brief illness.

Garry was born in Bath, NB, on July 3, 1945. He was the son of Christina Porter (Sullivan) and the late Joseph Porter. Beside his mother, who is a resident of the Tobique Valley Manor, Garry leaves behind his wife, Maureen Porter (LeBel); his children, Ryan Porter (Danielle) of Fredericton, NB, Jennifer Caron (Marcel) of St-André, NB; his grandchildren, Lannie and Emma Porter; his sister, Marilyn Albert (Marven Goodine); several nieces and nephews; his brothers-in-law, Kent (Kim) LeBel, Greg (Darlene) LeBel both of Plaster Rock, NB; his sister-in-law, Gail LeBel.

Garry was predeceased by his father and his brothers-in-law, Gordon LeBel and Louis Albert.

Garry worked at Ralph F. Sadler for the past 45 years and retired in August of 2018. Garry enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports. He played baseball in his early years and was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Red Sox. He will be missed by his family and friends for his knowledge and his advice.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 2 pm from St. Andrew's United Church. Mr. Kenneth Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery at a later date.

Music for the service was by organist Peter Penny and Garry's granddaughter, Emma Porter. Readings were by Krystal LeBel, Danielle Porter, and Tina Harding. The eulogy was given by Lannie Porter.

Pallbearers were Robert Simpson, Kip Simpson, Vaughn Tompkins, Dick Jenkins, Sam Breau, and Kameron LeBel.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
