James "Jim" Ashford
James "Jim" Ashford of Plaster Rock, NB, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 24, 2019.

Jim was born in Oak Point, NB, on December 1, 1938. He was the son of the late Smith and Olive (Stewart) Ashford. Jim leaves his companion, Dorothy Tapley of Plaster Rock, NB; his daughters, Kelly Wark (Gary) of Sisson Ridge, NB, Lori Porter (Danny) of Plaster Rock, NB, Brenda Ashworth (Andrew) of Anfield, NB; his sons, Stephen Bedford (Lorene) of McLaughlin, NB, James Ashford Jr. (Margaret) of Plaster Rock, NB; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Francis of Hampton, NB; Dorothy's daughters, Diane Sorensen of Truro, NS, and Debbie Tapley of Truro, NS; along with many nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary Ashford (Bedford); his sisters, Etta Parsons, Vesta Parsons, Ada Connell, Edith McNally, and Carolann Mahaney; his brothers, William "Bill" Ashford and Stephen Ashford; and Dorothy's son, Darren Tapley.

Jim worked at the lumber mill in Plaster Rock for many years. He also worked as a meat cutter for a period of time. Jim enjoyed many activities, such as golf, curling, hockey, and baseball. He was also a former volunteer for the local fire department.

Respecting Jim's wishes, there was no formal funeral service held. A celebration of Jim's life was held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #29, in Plaster Rock, NB. Interment followed in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB.
