1928-2019

Betty DeWitt
Elizabeth Frances "Betty" DeWitt of Perth-Andover, NB, passed away peacefully at the Victoria Glen Manor on October 16, 2019.

Betty was born in Perth-Andover, NB, on October 12, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Gladys (Loose) Tatlock. Betty leaves behind her daughters, Frances Kennedy (James) of Hinesville, GA, Susan Sprague of Perth-Andover, NB; her son, Harold DeWitt (Sheila) of Carlingford, NB; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; her sisters, Lily Mockler of Fredericton, NB, Emily DeMerchant of Perth-Andover, NB, Lucy Smith of Grimsby, ON; her son-in-law, Danny Bird of St. Andrews, NB; along with several nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Henry A. DeWitt; her daughter, Cheryl Bird; her grandson, Jonathan Bird; her son-in-law, Ronald Sprague.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Perth-Andover and was an active member of the United Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

For many years, Betty worked at local dairy bars, first for Rusty Matheson, then Herb McCrea and for Percy Inman.

While Betty was a quiet sometimes shy person, she had a heart as big as all outdoors. She was always willing to help someone in anyway she could. That usually meant cooking something or making cookies. She once said cooking gave her much pleasure as well as being her way of easing stress.

Betty was a wonderful and loving person who will be missed by many.

Funeral service was held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 2 pm from the Perth-Andover United Baptist Church. Mrs. Sheila Cummings officiated. Interment followed in the Presbyterian Rural Cemetery.

Music for the service was by soloist Tammy Chase and pianist Marianne Bell. Memories of Betty were shared by Mrs. Sheila Cummings.

Pallbearers were Garth Dingee, Danny Bird, Andrew Bird, Douglas Soucy, Jeff Beveridge, and Glen Furge.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
