Iris Nicholas

With her family by her side, Iris Jane Nicholas of Tobique First Nation, NB, passed away peacefully at her home on November 26, 2019.

Iris was born in Perth-Andover, NB, on January 16, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Veronica (Deveau) Nicholas. Iris leaves behind her daughters, Michelle Augustine (Joseph) of Tobique First Nation, NB, Sara Nicholas of Manchester, NH; her sons, Todd Nicholas of Tobique First Nation, NB, Thomas Van Oorschot (Jeani) of South Mountain, ON, and Jason Nicholas of Tobique First Nation, NB; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; her sisters, Jeannette Brewer (Gene) of Texas, Elizabeth Polchies, of Orono, ME, Nancy Polchies, of Peter Dana Point, ME, Dorothy Bear of Virginia, and Imelda Perley (David) of Fredericton, NB; her brothers, Vaughn Nicholas (Bernie) of Tobique First nation, NB, Eldon Bernard (Della) of Tobique First Nation, NB, Roger Paul (Paula) of Hamden, ME, Christie Polchies of Peter Dana Point, ME.

Iris was predeceased by her parents; her son, Troy Nicholas; her sister, Mona Nicholas; her brothers, Dickie Stevens, Wayne Nicholas, Roger Nicholas, and Robert Tomah.

Iris was a retired school teacher and a Survivor of Canada's Residential Schools.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 2 pm from Iris' home. William and Connie Nevin celebrated.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
