1934-2020
With his wife by his side, Claude Gordon Crawford of Perth-Andover,
NB, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on the
morning of June 8, 2020.
Claude was born in Maplehurst, NB, on February 20, 1934. He was the son of the late William and Mary Jane (Lockhart) Crawford. Claude leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Marie Crawford (Reid); his sons, Terry Crawford (Tanya Gullett) of Peterborough, ON, Mark Crawford (Tami Carson) of Airdrie, AB, Blair Crawford of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his sister, Linda Beckwith (Doug) of Salisbury, NB.
Claude was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Connie Poe and Elinor Crawford; his brothers, Lawrence, Bud, and Kempton Crawford.
Claude studied at vocational school and Emmanuel Bible School. He worked at Goodine’s Automotive, Gamblin’s Grocery and McPhail’s Hardware, finishing his career with the DOT. He also trapped, harvested Christmas trees and sold monuments when he was not serving his beloved UPC family. Claude taught Sunday School, brought kids to church from all over Victoria County and pioneered and directed Christian Commandos. He was an excellent song leader, lay preacher, church board member and Sunday school superintendent. He was faithful in directing weekly services at Victoria Glen manor and was always a true friend to his pastor.
Claude was known, loved and respected in his community for his servant attitude and gentlemanly demeanor. He enjoyed time with friends, his cabin in Muniac, hunting, fishing and all things wood related.
An avid storyteller, Claude shared his experiences of action and adventure, well dosed with dry humour and infectious giggles.
A celebration of Claude's life will be held at Calvary Tabernacle, Perth-Andover, NB on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 2 pm. Rev. David Ferrell officiating.
Memorial donations can be made through the following link to the Northeast Christian College. The family's wish is to establish a Scholarship in Claude's name. Please note on your donation, “In Memory of Claude Crawford”.
