Born in Drummond, NB, he was the son of the late Paul and Helene (Michaud) Lagace. Wilfred leaves behind his wife Elaine (Burke) Lagace; his sons Roger Lagace of Trenton, ON, Ryan Lagace of Seoul, South Korea; 2 grandchildren Chelsea and Cameron Lagace of Barrie, ON; his sisters Theresa Giberson (Camber) of Plaster Rock, Verna Hoelker (Gary) of California, Deanna Hollins (Donald) of Weaver, Paulette Taylor (companion Russell Crawford) of McLaughlin; his brothers Lloyd Lagace (Karen) of Enterprise, Eric Lagace (Vicki) of New Denmark; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Ivy Lagace (Cuffley); sister Wilda Peglow; brother Brian Legace; and his four-legged friend Kemo.
Wilfred was the very successful owner and operator of W. Lagace and sons Esso and Rogers Motel of Plaster Rock. In his younger years, Wilfred was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed picking fiddleheads, raspberries, blueberries, giving most of them away.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2 pm from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Gilbert Doddatto celebrated, assisted by Mr. Harold Short-Evans. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.
Music for the service was by organist Peter Penny. The eulogy was given by Nicki Haddad. The urn was carried by Wilfred's son Roger Lagace.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
