Anna Downing

Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Anna Downing of Perth-Andover passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on July 21, 2014.

Anna was born in Grand Falls Portage on August 11, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Cecilia (Hartt) Downing. Anna leaves behind her daughter Agathe Mathieu of North Vancouver, BC; three grandchildren; sisters Theresa Gervais of Houlton, ME, Mary Graham of St. Stephen, NB; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters Elizabeth McCarthy, Olive Downing, Madeline Lahue, Gertrude Moran, Julia Smith, and Pauline Downing; brothers Wallace, George, and Owen Downing.

Anna was a member and Past President of the local C.W.L. She was also a member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch #36.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11 am from St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Father Gilbert Doddatto celebrated, assisted by Father Curtis Sappier. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Music for the service was by organist Marsha Lang and the church choir. The eulogy was given by Anna's nephew, Mike Smith.

Pallbearers were Francois Falardeau, Tom Lahue, Richard Downing, Alan Downing, Jim McCarthy, Wayne Paul, Mark Gervais, Walter Graham Jr., Kevin Graham, Todd Downing, Tim Downing.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
