Royce Tompkins
On January 28, 2015, Royce Harold Tompkins, 76, of Tompkins Ridge, Tilley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Royce was born in Lerwick, NB, April 11, 1938 to Harold and Eska (Goodine) Tompkins. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Lewellyn and Verdell (Dale), and sisters, Mavis and Donna, granddaughter Jennique, and nephews Eugene and David. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice (Currie) Tompkins, daughter Annette (Ken) MacDonald of Saint John, Daniel Tompkins of Fort McMurray, AB, Twila (Robert) Tiberend of Benton, IL, and daughters by choice, Nancy (Dale) Roach of Clearview, Cheryl Damm of Georgetown, ON and Donna Violo of Mississauga, ON, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Royce worked on the farm until he took a position with the Dept. of Transportation, first with the bridge crew, and later driving snowplow and working on the chipseal crew. He retired at age 60 after 28 years with the Dept. and went on to drive transport for 6 years. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, 4-wheeling, fiddle heading and spending time with his family.

He was an active member of Calvary Tabernacle in Perth Andover. His most extensive travels included a mission trip, accompanied by his wife and Rev. H M Lewis, to visit his missionary cousin, Rev Bennie DeMerchant, in Brazil.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 2 pm from Calvary Tabernacle, Perth-Andover. Rev. H.M. Lewis officiated, assisted by Rev. David Ferrell, Rev. Jonathan McNair, and Rev. Tom Price. Interment will take place in Currie Cemetery in the spring.

Music for the service was by Mrs. Carolyn Kinney and Rev. David and Roma Ferrell. The eulogy was given by Esther Phillips and Elizabeth McCavour.

Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Currie, David Currie, Thomas Hamilton, Erick Tompkins, Tony Michaud, and Glen Goodine.

Pallbearers were Adam Tompkins, Andrew Tompkins, Dale Roach, Joel MacDonald, Aaron Phillips, and Joel McCavour.

Bernice and the family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Moore, Extra Mural Nurses, homecare workers, friends and neighbours who lovingly supported Royce during his lengthy battle with cancer. May God bless each one of you.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
