Steven Pelkey

1953-2020

With his family by his side, Steven Thomas Pelkey of Arthurette, NB, formerly of California Settlement, NB, passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2020.

Steven was born in Andover, NB, on February 22, 1953. He was the son of the late George and Mary (Dee) Pelkey. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam Pelkey and his fur baby, Missi; his sisters, Naida DeMerchant of Perth-Andover, NB, and Verna Johndro (Norman) of Limestone, ME; his brothers, John Pelkey (Emily) of Perth-Andover, NB, Robert Pelkey (Kathy) of Hanwell, NB, Alton Pelkey (Heather) of Prince George, BC, Brian Pelkey of Moncton, NB; sisters-in-law, Nancy, Lisa, Brenda, and Penny; brothers-in-law, Tom, Peter, Dan, and Mike; many friends and extended family, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Steven was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Somer Kelly-Pelkey; his brother, Francis Pelkey; and his fur babies, Sunny and Nessa.

Steven worked hard over the years, always doing well in his chosen work: farming, roofing, paving, operating heavy equipment. He loved country music, had a huge heart, and was generous to all. He had a quick wit.

Please remember him with a smile, listen to some music, light a candle and raise a glass or cup to toast a good man gone to rest.

We have comfort in knowing that he is at peace now from a lengthy illness and that he will join those gone before us.

There will be no funeral service due to personal wishes and Covid-19. Steven will be cremated. There will be small intimate memorial visits with close family and friends at home later.

Steven’s family wishes to thank all those who cared for him with the labor of love. This includes the nurses, doctors, and staff at Saint John Regional Hospital, including the hostel, the nurses and staff of Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital, the QEII Health Center in Halifax, NS, Dr. Larry Kennedy and Deidi, Dr. Tooley and Extra-Mural, Dr. Dusty and the Guardian family in Plaster Rock, our good neighbors.

Donations, if you wish, can be made to who you wish. Some suggestions would be a friend who needs a helping hand, support cemeteries, your local SPCA, a local cancer support group, plant a tree or a plant.

Always loved and remembered,
Pam, family, and friends
