Betty Hathaway

1932-2021

Betty Hathaway
Following a lengthy illness, Elizabeth "Betty" Hathaway of Everett, NB, passed away peacefully at the Victoria Glen Manor on the morning of February 16, 2021.

Betty was born in the Scotch's Colony (Kincardine, NB) on May 3, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Katherina (Gaunce) Chapman. Betty leaves behind her daughter, Nancy Hathaway (Howard Green) of Oxbow, NB; along with many nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Edna Chapman (Ruff), who raised Betty following the death of her mother when Betty was four years old; her husband, Ralph Hathaway; her sons, David, Peter, and Donald Hathaway; her daughter, Sally Hathaway; her sisters, Mary Lou DeChant, Laura DeMerchant, and Phyllis DeRenzie; her brothers, Ronald and Elmore Chapman.

Betty was a very kindhearted person. Everybody was always welcomed to stop in at Betty's for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. In 2013, Betty's husband and her two boys, Peter and Donald, all passed away within nine months of each other. She looked after her two boys at home for over 58 years.

A private graveside service was held at Burntland Brook Cemetery on February 19, 2021 at 1 pm.

Pallbearers were Monty Ruff, Monty Snowden, Howard Green, and Brian Green.

Betty's family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Victoria Glen Manor for the excellent care they have provided to Betty over the past five years.
