D. Camber Giberson
1934-2021
Perhaps the greatest road traveled would lead him to his beloved wife of 64 years, Theresa (Lagace), and the growth of their family with the additions of their children: Rocky (Pam) and Nicki (Bill) Haddad of Plaster Rock, N.B. and Nina (Dan) Briggs of Aiken, South Carolina.
His career endeavors started with the Royal Canadian Air Force, something he was proud of and proved to be a great life experience for a young man. Throughout his travels, Camber ventured along a few employment pathways; however, it was his extensive career of over 25 years as a long-haul truck driver that “fit-the-bill” for a guy who loved the open road. Camber’s aptitude for anything with a motor led to his passions of snowmobiling with his love Theresa, and with his cherished 1964 T-Bird, they traveled many highways and byways, attending car shows in-style. He loved the great outdoors; fishing, hunting and “the camp” were enjoyable memories for the entire family. Grandchildren joined in Camber’s adventures as well: four grandsons, Jordan, Matthew and Alexander Briggs, John Douglas Haddad; and one granddaughter, Meagan (Justin) Rogers. “Papa” as known to them, spent so much time travelling to various sporting events to cheer on those grandkids, because they were his absolute pride and joy. Great-grandkids followed in most recent years: Maren and Boden (Rogers) who made him realize his journey would never end through them.
His travels led him to enjoy the company of life-long family and friends, brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In recent years, his “guardian angels”: Donna Burns, Teresa Turner, Judy Doucette, and Paula McDougall were his extended family whom he loved dearly. During his retirement years, Camber, known for his social character, took daily excursions to the Legion for coffee and pull tab tickets with his buddies, enjoying their company and especially listening to Dale’s stories. Over the last year, Camber made his final homes with the Grand Falls and Tobique Valley Manors, whose staff were so attentive, compassionate and devoted to his care.
Our most sincere thank you is extended to Dr. Wecker, his dedicated family doctor for many years, and to Dr. Davilmar and the staff at the Tobique Valley Manor for assisting Camber to realize his final journey would end with dignity.
In commemoration of a life well traveled, the family will hold a “Celebration of Life” at a later date when we can all be together once again - it’s what Dad would have wanted. For those who wish, donations in Camber’s memory can kindly be made to the Tobique Valley Manor or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 in Plaster Rock.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
