Frederick McLaughlin

It is with profound sadness the family of Fred McLaughlin of Lake Edward, NB, announce his passing at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB, on March 8, 2023 at the age of 63 years old.

Freddie was the son of the late Hubert and Joan (Watson) McLaughlin and was born in Perth-Andover, NB, on December 4, 1959. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Velma (Williams) McLaughlin in 2020.

Fred is survived by his only son, Nathan McLaughlin of Lake Edward, NB; his brothers, Hugh McLaughlin (Jean) of Saint John, NB, Damon McLaughlin (Pat) of Limestone Siding, NB, Stephen McLaughlin (Kim) of Morrell Siding, NB; his sisters, Norma Baker (Stillman) of Morrell Siding, NB, Carol Buchanan (Leigh) of Centerville, NB, Mary Michaud (Late Donald) of Grand Falls, NB, Grace Dixon (Anthony) of Limestone Siding, NB.

His loss will be felt by his uncle Everleigh Watson (Ann Marie) of Undine, NB, along with several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. He will also be missed by his in-laws in the Williams family who called him uncle, brother and friend.

Fred worked for many years in the construction industry in Valemount, BC, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, mainly as a highly skilled excavator operator. Fred enjoyed a good laugh, he loved to tease and as a young man played the guitar in his local church in British Columbia where he lived with his family until returning to New Brunswick. But the main loves of his life were his wife, Velma, and his son, Nathan.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 3 pm from Brunswick Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Dee officiated. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.

A poem was read by Kim McLaughlin and the eulogy was given by Millie Watson.

Pallbearers were Nathan McLaughlin, Ian McLaughlin, Mitch Baker, Stephen McLaughlin, Damon McLaughlin, and Anthony Dixon.
