Kevin "Shag" Tompkins

1952-2023

Kevin "Shag" Tompkins
It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin "Shag" Tompkins of Arthurette, NB, announce his unexpected passing at the Upper River Valley Hospital on March 31, 2023.

Shag was born on August 17, 1952 in Bath, NB. He was the son of the late Roy and Clara (Wright) Tompkins. Shag is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Glenna Tompkins (Giberson); his daughter, Carrie Tompkins (Mac Green) of Crombie Settlement, NB; his son, Christopher "Lou" Tompkins (Ashley) of Parkland County, AB; his cherished grandchildren, Reese, Payson, and Wilder Tompkins; his brother, Jimmy Tompkins (Sally) of Arthurette, NB; also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as his constant companion, Quincey.

Shag was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Faye Adams; and his brothers, Dwayne and Robert Tompkins.

Shag spent his younger years playing baseball for the Arthurette A's as a catcher, winning many championship titles, including the Maritime Championship. He loved to play cards and enjoyed many a night at the Arthurette Legion playing 45's and winning trophies.

Shag spent his life working in the woods. He was running equipment and later owning and operating his own business, KT Shag Incorporated. He worked hard to provide for his family.

To know Shag was to love him. He talked to anyone and everyone. You could not go anywhere that he didn't run into someone he knew. He had a way of bringing a laugh to all and lending a hand to anyone who asked.

Kevin faced his illness just as he faced life. He had a one day at a time take it as it is attitude. He was laughing and joking right to his final days.

He will be forever loved and missed.

A celebration of Shag's life will be held at the Arthurette Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 2:30 - 5 pm. All are welcome to attend and share stories about Shag.

For those who wish, donations in Kevin's name can be made to the Mama Bear Cancer Fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB.
