Ashley Smith

Ashley E. W. Smith of North View, NB, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2023.

Ashley was born in Sussex, NB, on March 14, 1936. He was the son of the late Eules and Evelyn Smith. Ashley leaves behind his loving wife, Grace Smith (High); his daughters, Joy Dettling (Charles) of Spokane, WA, Becky Smith of Spokane, WA; Howard Smith (Debbie) of Auburn, NY, Tim Smith of Grand Falls, NB, Peter Smith (Cathy) of Marysville, WA; his twelve grandchildren; his sisters, Mable Forgrave of Sussex, NB, and Hazel Brown of Coles Island, NB; along with several nieces and nephews.

Ashley was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Elsie Ruth Smith; his grandchildren, Katie and Victoria Smith; his brothers, Harry, Raymond, and Eules; and his sisters, Mary Ross and Susan Nelson.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 2 pm from the Tobique Chapel in Plaster Rock, NB. Pastor Dwayne Broad officiated. A graveside service will be held at the Lower Millstream Cemetery on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Music for the service was by organist Janice Broad and soloist Aaron DeMerchant. The eulogy was given by Tim Smith.

Pallbearers were Tim Smith, Howard Smith, Peter Smith, Chuck Dettling, Andrew Smith, and Joseph Smith.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home of Perth-Andover, NB, and Wallace Funeral Home of Sussex, NB.
