Doreen Knowles
1935-2023



Following a lengthy illness, Doreen Knowles passed away peacefully at
her home in Aroostook on September 1, 2023, one day before her 88th
birthday.
Doreen was born in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick on September 2, 1935, second youngest child of 10 children born to Arthur Albert Ward and Mary Elizabeth Brown.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Valerie) Knowles of Calgary, Alberta; David (Jane) Knowles of Katy, Texas; Janet Knowles of Aroostook, NB; and her youngest son, Greg (Robyn) Knowles of Calgary, Alberta; her sisters, Ruth Fulton of Plaster Rock and Linda Briggs (Alex) of Woodstock.
Her grandchildren: Sean Knowles; Chelsea Knowles; Sara (Stéphane) Smith; Scott (Whitney) Knowles; Adam (Kate) Knowles and Katie Knowles. Great grandchildren: Theo, Cédric, Callen, Célèste, Mara-Jade and Molly. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Doreen was predeceased by: her husband, Milton (Mickey) Knowles and her son, Jeffrey Arthur Knowles, siblings: Alex (Billie) Ward, Jean (Doug) McElroy, Dolly (Percy) Milton, George (Jeannette) Ward, Grace (Elgee) Coughlan, Douglas (Marg) Ward, and Lawrence (Joan) Ward.
Doreen was very active for many years in her church and served as Treasurer for Trinity Anglican for 17 years. She served for over 20 years on the Board of the Perth Andover Library, and it was largely through her tireless advocacy that the Library was able to accomplish a huge expansion and upgrades were completed for the Church.
Respecting Doreen's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A private family committal service in the McKellar Family Cemetery with be held at a later date.
For those who wish, memorial donations to either the Trinity Anglican Church or the Perth Andover Library would be appreciated by the family.
