Eldon Johnson

1940-2023

Eldon Johnson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved husband and father, Eldon Earle Johnson. Eldon, of Perth-Andover, went home to his Lord at the age of 83 on Friday, September 15, 2023, of a sudden and unexpected illness.

Eldon was born on February 28, 1940, to the late Charles and Edith (née Francis) Johnson. He grew up in Perth-Andover, NB, where he met his high school sweetheart, Donna, when they were 16. They married in May of 1960 and were together for 63 years.

In 1961, Eldon and Donna, along with their newborn daughter, Jana, moved to Toronto, Ontario. Within the next several years, their family grew with the addition of his two sons, Jeff and Jamie.

The bulk of his working career was with Kraft Canada as warehouse manager.

After retiring in 2006, Eldon and Donna came back to Perth-Andover, NB, to enjoy the quiet life of their retirement years.

Eldon had a passion for sports. He loved to play and watch both hockey and baseball and would often be found watching golf or curling on TV. While living in Ontario, Eldon was very active in the community playing softball, coaching softball and hockey, including his son, Jeff's, hockey team, and umpiring for a variety of softball leagues. After moving back home to Perth, he played golf recreationally.

Eldon loved to tease, enjoyed feeding the birds and listening to music, he took pictures and videos of everything, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles on his tablet, and loved to eat out, especially a good pepperoni, bacon and onion pizza from Pizza Nova when living in Ontario. When visiting family he enjoyed a good game of cards, especially Phase 10, and could sometimes be caught “cheating“ with a little help from one or both of his sons.

Eldon's greatest love was for his family. He loved to visit and be visited by them, and he and Donna often made the long trek to Ontario to spend summer vacations, Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthdays with his kids and grandkids.

Eldon leaves behind his loving wife, Donna (née Hanson), his three children, Jana (Graham) of Fredericton, NB, Jeff (Cherie) of London, ON and Jamie (Donna) of Oshawa, ON, his grandchildren Aaron, Jordan, Joshua and Karissa, and his great-grandson and namesake, Parker Eldon.

He is survived by his brothers, Fred (Joanne) of Moncton, NB, Donald (Joanne) of Utopia, NB, Frank (Nancy) of St. George, NB, Daryl (Maple) of Newfoundland, and his sisters, Audrey (James) of Utah, Edith of Washington State, Sandra (Stewart) of Rowena, NB, and Henrietta of Tobique First Nation, NB.

Eldon is predeceased by his brothers Herman, Ivan and Robert, and sister Elizabeth.
