Margaret "Peggy" McDougall

With her family by her side, Margaret "Peggy" McDougall of Lower Kintore, NB, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on October 20, 2023.

Peggy was born in Kintore, NB, on April 8, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Sweton and Hope (McQuade) Mavor. Peggy leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, Dale McDougall; her daughter, Debbie Uliana (Mark) of Guelph, ON; her sons, Michael McDougall (Stephanie) of Moncton, NB, Peter McDougall (Holly) of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Kendra (Zachary), Morgan, Logan, Keegan, Connor, Lauren, and Liam; her great granddaughter, Gianna; her daughter-in-law, Pam McDougall of Quispamsis, NB; her sisters, Faye Kinney of Perth-Andover, NB, and Gladys Post of Lower Kintore, NB; her brothers, Frank Mavor (Dawn) of Perth-Andover, NB, Arthur Mavor (Sandra) of Lower Kintore, NB, Malcolm Mavor (Maxine) of Lower Kintore, NB, Keith Mavor (Patty Albert) of Kamloops, BC, and Earlen Mavor of Lower Kintore, NB; her four-legged companion, Teddy; along with many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents; her son, Troy McDougall; her brothers, Eugene, Robert, and Richard Mavor.

Margaret was a creative talented person with entrepreneurial interest in cooking and sewing. She worked as a custodian at the elementary and high school in Perth-Andover for over 20 years. The staff and students enjoyed Margaret’s cheerful personality. Margaret had a great sense of humour and made you feel welcomed, she always made time for a little chat and chuckle.

Margaret’s hobbies included working in her flower gardens with Teddy at her side, along with crafts, dancing, listening to music, visiting with family and friends.

In the past few years Margaret enjoyed getting out of the house for her daily drives with her husband Dale and her furry companion Teddy. They would go shopping stop for a bite to eat or coffee, in the surrounding areas.

Margaret lived a simply and basic life. She loved her family and hometown and was well known by everyone and will be truly missed by all.

Funeral service was held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 am from the Melville United Church, Kincardine, NB. Ms. Darlene Morton officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Music for the service was by organist Isabel Morton and the church choir. The bagpipes were played by Jennifer Grant. Scripture readings were by Stephanie McDougall, Kendra Uliana, and Peter McDougall. The obituary was read by Morgan McDougall and Debbie Uliana. The eulogy was given by Michael McDougall.

Pallbearers were Logan McDougall, Connor McDougall, Keegan McDougall, Liam McDougall, Charlie McDougall, Gary Christensen, and Dean Post.

On behalf of Margaret’s family, we are forever grateful for the excellent and compassionate care that she received at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital palliative care nurses, thank-you to Dr. David Bell and the heath care team at Upper River Valley Hospital.
