Monica Hovey

Monica Elizabeth Hovey of New Denmark, NB, passed away peacefully at the Grand Falls General Hospital on the evening of November 14, 2023.

Monica was born in Sillikers, NB, on July 14, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Hyland) Burns. Monica leaves behind her daughters, Jane Veysey (Ralph Phillips) of Sussex, NB, Donna St. Peter (Roger) of Sisson Ridge, NB, Margie Hovey (Ronald Eccleston) of Anderson Road, NB, Patricia Hovey (Herman Craig) of Plaster Rock, NB; her sons, Robert Hovey (Debbie) of Moncton, NB, John Hovey (Angie) of Plaster Rock, NB; her son-in-law, Billy Ward of Rocky Mountain House, AB; her grandchildren, Greg, Neil, Steven, Jordan, Scott, Jill, Sarah, Megan, Jason, Joel, Jamie, Colin, Bailey, and Jaycie; her great grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Jaelyn, Jacob, and Oliver; her sister, Anna Curtis of Moncton, NB; her brothers, Leo Burns (Susan) of Fredericton, NB, and Donald Burns (Joan) of Sillikers, NB; and her special niece, Carolyn Burns of Fredericton, NB.

Monica was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Blair "Mac" Hovey; her daughter, Mary Hovey; her sisters, Helen McIntyre and Mable Dodds; her brothers, Lawrence and William "Billy" Burns.

Monica enjoyed many pastimes. Among them were playing bingo, knitting, and playing cards. Monica enjoyed any activity that would let her spend time with her family.

Funeral service was held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2 pm from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Gilbert Doddatto celebrated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Music for the service was by Mr. Kenneth Campbell. The eulogy was given by Laurie Hovey.

Pallbearers were Greg Hovey, Matthew Hovey, Jamie Hovey, Colin Hovey, Jason Eccleston, and Leeroy Bourgoin.
