Joyce Ingraham

Joyce Ingraham
With sadness, we announce the passing of Joyce Audrey (Yeomans) Ingraham on January 5, 2024 at the age of 96. Joyce was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Blue) Yeomans and the youngest of 14 children. Due to the early death of her mother, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Mary Elizabeth (Mae) and Edward Knowlton in Two Brooks NB.

Joyce married Ronald Ingraham in 1947. They worked hard to build a new home on the Terrace in Perth. They raised three children there and started many stories and traditions that are being passed on through the generations.

After training to become a teacher at Normal School in Fredericton NB, Joyce taught for 30-plus years. She was proud to have taught in a one-room school for a few years before moving to Perth Elementary. After retiring from teaching, she completed her degree in Fine Arts at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She then began her 2nd professional career as an artist (painter) and completed many abstract and landscape paintings which are proudly hanging in many homes.

Joyce was a great cook and baker and her recipes will live on. She was also an accomplished gardener, knitter of warm mittens, socks and sweaters, sower of lupin seeds and creator of "lamb" cakes for 1st birthday celebrations. She had so many talents!

Joyce is survived by her daughters Linda (Lance) Bishop of Arthurette NB; Elaine (Dan) Callaghan of West Berlin NS and her son Paul (Carol) of Oak Point NB; as well as her special daughter-in-law Linda (Meikle) Ingraham of Moncton NB. She is survived by eight grandchildren: she was Grammie Joyce to Connie (Mark), Robbie (Stacey) and Andrew (Hyun); and Grammie to Ben (Margaux), Neal (Louise), Lindsey (Jon), Candace and Whitney; and by seven great-grandchildren: Cole, Maggie, Avery, Connor, Oliver, Ellie and Jasper. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Yeomans, her brother-in-law Robert (Marion) Ingraham and many, many nieces and nephews. Joyce also leaves behind dear friends, Janet and Brian Sykes.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Llewellyn Ingraham in 1995. She was also predeceased by brothers Wellington, Murchie, Percy, Henry, and Stephen and by sisters Mamie Briggs, Lizzie Blue, Pearl McPhail, Edith Neddeau, and Viola, Ruth, Mildred and Rae Yeomans.

Mom genuinely appreciated her kind and thoughtful neighbours. We are very grateful that Mom had amazing and gentle care in the last few years, first at home with several caregivers, and then with the wonderful staff at Victoria Glen Manor.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service celebrating Joyce's life on May 18, 2024 at 2 pm at Larlee Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Making a Difference Food Bank in Perth-Andover, Victoria County SPCA or any charity of your choice.
