MacKayla O'Keefe

1995-2024

MacKayla O'Keefe
By accident on April 7, 2024, MacKayla Carolyn O'Keefe of Tobique Narrows, NB, passed away at home.

MacKayla was born in Perth-Andover, NB, on May 20, 1995. She was the daughter of Rose Rattray and the late Barry O'Keefe. MacKayla is survived by her mother, Rose Rattray of Tobique Narrows, NB; her brother, MacKenzie O'Keefe of Tobique Narrows, NB; her stepfather, Steve Muckler of Tobique Narrows, NB; her special friend, Derek Basque whom she thought the world of; her paternal aunts and uncles, Alan O'Keefe (Barb), Joanne Scott (Albry), Phillip O'Keefe (Patricia), Valerie O'Keefe (late Neil), Susan Oakes (late Ralph), Darryl O'Keefe, Glen O'Keefe, and Carol McLaughlin (Ron); her maternal aunts and uncles, Cora Chase (Ervin), Dave Rattray (Janet), Joe Rattray (Debbie), Lawrence Rattray (Anne), Allyn Rattray (Judy), Leonard Rattray (Kim), and William Rattray (Tina); along with numerous cousins from far and wide.

She was predeceased by her father, Barry O'Keefe; her infant brother, Kyle O'Keefe; and her grandmothers, Carolyn Rattray and Ellen O'Keefe.

MacKayla had a mind of her own. She was straight forward, stubborn, and caring. Even though many tried, we could never figure out what her next move would be and she was always up for an adventure.

MacKayla loved her ice caps, clothes, bracelets, shoes, purses, animals, and her phone. She would remember your pet's name before yours. She would look forward to any trips be it long or short. MacKayla would plan ahead sometimes months for her birthdays or other special events.

MacKayla lit up the room with her smile and infectious laugh. She would be the first one to compliment you and start up a conversation. She wore her heart on her sleeve and her mood on her face. Her laugh could turn into a roar in an instant. She dreamed of things that most of us take for granted: having a job, a home and family, and being surrounded by Love.

A celebration of MacKayla's life was held at Brunswick Funeral Home on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2 pm. Father Gilbert Doddatto officiated. Interment will be in St. Bartholomew's Catholic Cemetery in Clearview, NB, at a later date.

The eulogy was written by Samantha O'Keefe and given by Jennifer O'Keefe.

For those who wish, memorial donations to the PALS Program of the Autism Center or the Victoria County SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
