Dawn Johnson

Marcia Dawn Johnson of Burntland Brook, NB, passed away peacefully at the Victoria Glen Manor on the evening of April 15, 2024.

Dawn was born in Saint John, NB, on March 14, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Anslie George and Evadine (Branscomb) Thorne. Dawn leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Kellner (Andy) of Stoney Creek, ON; her sons, Cyril Johnson (Dana) of Thunder Bay, ON, Anslie Johnson (Diane) of Ancaster, ON; her eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; her sisters Eileen Buzan of Calgary, AB, Barbara Lamb of Dartmouth, NS, Catherine Crocket of Ancaster, ON; and her brothers, George Thorne of Thompson, MB and Robert Thorne of Alberta.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John Charles Wilson Johnson; her sisters, Marie Davidson, Gladys Nesbit, and Margaret Johnson; her brothers, Kenneth, Russell, and Edward Thorne.

Dawn was a very family oriented and independent person. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed a good game of cribbage. She was also a member of the Plaster Rock United Baptist Church and the Burntland Brook Women’s Institute for many years. Dawn truly appreciated the friendliness and love that she received from the community over the years. She was very grateful to all the support workers that took care of her and allowed her to stay in her own home for so many years.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2 pm from the Plaster Rock United Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Lorne Freake officiated. Internment followed in the Burntland Brook Cemetery.

Music for the service was by organist Sheila Ashford and soloist Mary-Jo Arpin. The eulogy was given by Cyril and Anslie Johnson. Letters of remembrances were shared by Dawn's granddaughter, Rebecca Dam.

Pallbearers were Cyril Johnson, Anslie Johnson, Rebecca Dam, Randy Arpin, Andy Kellner, and Gus Machado.
