David Reed

1957-2024

David Reed
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert David Reed of St. Almo, NB, at the Grand Falls General Hospital on Friday, December 27, 2024.

David was born in Plaster Rock, NB, on August 14, 1957. He was the son of the late Ralph and Doris (Green) Reed. David leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Reed (Carmont); his daughter, Shasta Reed (Jeremy Nason) of Perth-Andover, NB; his sons, Rydn Reed (Kellie) of Saskatoon, SK, and Bryson Reed (Melissa) of Whitecourt, AB; his grandchildren, Boston, Wyatt, and Islay; his sister, Kim Cooper (Leigh) of Odell, NB; his brother, Lee Reed (Anne) of St. Almo, NB; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, John and Blair Reed.

Dave started working in the woods at the age of seventeen, buying his first skidder a few years later. Over the years, he expended his business, eventually acquiring over 25 pieces of equipment and forming his company, Reed Forestry Ltd. He was thankful that owning a business allowed him the opportunity to work with his sons over the summer months, when they were home from school.

Dave worked all over the province, cutting private woodlots as far south as Fredericton and chipping as far north as Belledune. The weir pole sector of his business provided stakes for the fishermen in the Bay of Fundy for the herring industry.

Dave met a lot of people through his work and made many good friends along the way. His circle of friends was far and wide.

He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, hunting, sledding, and driving his Harley. Most of all he loved the outdoors and was happiest with the sun in his face and the wind blowing through his hair.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Wecker, Dr. André Aucoin, the nurses at the Edmundston Regional Hospital, the Grand Falls General Hospital, and the Extramural Program for their care and compassion. Thank you to all the family and friends for your support as Dave travelled this difficult journey.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2 pm from the Plaster Rock United Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Lorne Freake officiated. Interment will be in the Three Brooks Cemetery at a later date.

Organist for the service was Sheila Ashford. The eulogy was given by David's sons, Rydn and Bryson Reed. Poems were read by David's daughters-in-law, Kellie and Melissa Reed.

Pallbearers were Rosaire Levesque, Dale Stiles, Carter Edgar, Steven Deleavey, Jean Cote, and Ricky Reed.

For those who wish, memorial donations to the Mama Bear Cancer Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB.
