Grace Oakes

Following a lengthy illness, Grace Elaine Oakes of California Settlement, NB, passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital on July 27, 2026.

Grace was born in Easton, ME, on February 13, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Ervin Victor and Evelyn Edith (Lint) Boxwell. Grace leaves behind her daughters, Diana Oakes-Marenger (Michel) of Glassville, NB, and Cathy Ferris (Jeff) of Oak Bay, NB; her grandchildren, Damian, Jenny, Cal (Stephanie), and Corwyn (Erica); her great grandchildren, John Charles, Everly, Ayla, and Elianna; her brother, Albert Boxwell (Sandra) of Bangor, ME; along with several nieces and nephews.

Grace is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ellis Oakes in 2023; her son, David Oakes; her sisters, Dorothy Thibodeau, Nancy Scott, Sandra Monson; her brothers, Robert (infant) and Donald Boxwell.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held at the Amazing Grace Church in Limestone Siding, NB, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 3 pm. Pastor Roy Dee officiating.
